In 2024, City Union Logistics handled a big project of the transportation and logistics for the Talimarjan power plant project in Uzbekistan. A Variety of Materials of this project purchased from different countries, including China, Japan, Dubai, India, South Korea, Vietnam and others. These materials were organized from third countries and transited through key Chinese ports such as Tianjin, Shanghai, and Taicang, Form there, the cargo was transported by land to Khorgos border, where it was transloaded onto CIS trucks for further transportation to the destination in Uzbekistan. Despite the project’s complexity, it was a challenging yet rewarding undertaking.
Up to this point, City Union Logistics has successfully moved 33,301CBM of cago weighing 5,807 tons, over 343 trips using a combination of different transportation modes to complete the delivery. Most of the cargo consisted of oversized units. Further adding to the challenge. The planning and preparation for the project began in October 2023, with transportation starting in late February 2024. The project was fully completed by the end of August 2024.
Shipments Details:
1.Zhuji/Yancheng - Khorgos - Talimarjan
Quantity: 166 pkgs
Volume: 12,899.49 m³
Weight: 2,609,800 kg
Through efficient and scientific loading, City Union Logistics completed the China segment of the transportation, which would typically require over 100 trucks, with just 89 trucks. Similarly, the Central Asia segment was managed with 79 trucks. Various truck types, such as 17.5-meter flatbed trucks, extendable trucks, and heavy low-bed trucks, were used to match the cargo’s requirements. This shipment included 43 pieces with lengths exceeding 20 meters, half of which were over 30 meters. Additionally, 74 items had widths exceeding 3 meters, and some had heights of up to 3.38 meters. Nearly half of the cargo was oversized in length, width, and height, making road transport a logistical challenge.
During transloading at Khorgos, limitations with Central Asian trucks and weight restrictions posed difficulties. However, the team addressed these challenges by using specially modified trucks, which significantly alleviated capacity constraints and ensured smooth transport.
2. Abu Dhabi - Shanghai - Khorgos - Talimarjan
Quantity: 131 pkgs
Volume: 5,660 cbm
Weight: 519,279 kgs
Shanghai to Khorgos: 49 trucks
Khorgos to Talimarjan: 62 trucks
This shipment faced significant challenges due to the oversized cargo, with several items having a width of up to 4.5 meters and a height of 4.6 meters. Despite the items not being particularly heavy, the oversized dimensions posed considerable difficulties. The transport through a third country, along with differences in truck quantities between China and Central Asia, created customs clearance issues that were expertly managed and resolved.
3. Abu Dhabi - Taicang - Khorgos - Talimarjan
Quantity: 136 pkgs
Volume: 6,006 cbm
Weight: 552,456 kgs
Taicang to Khorgos: 50 trucks
Khorgos to Talimarjan: 68 trucks
Similar to the second shipment, this one faced challenges with transit through a third country and differences in truck quantities between China and Central Asia. Changes in customs clearance procedures at the border led to extreme congestion and a shortage of flatbed trucks. Despite these difficulties, the City Union Logistics team successfully managed the situation, completing the project without delays.
4. Japan LOT1 - Tianjin - Khorgos - Talimarjan
Quantity: 410 pcs
Volume: 2,786.25 CBM

Due to the large number of smaller-sized items, the shipment was divided into 46 consignments for customs declaration to ensure smooth customs clearance. This represented a major breakthrough in overcoming customs challenges for transit transport.
