Express Global Logistics Pvt Ltd (formerly known as Express Transport Pvt Ltd), a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium WWPC in India, recently executed one of the largest hydroelectric projects undertaken by the client in DRC, a leading EPC company based out of India with large interests in Africa in various verticals including Power, Telecom, Substations, Sugar Plants, Farming etc.
The Project site was located in a remote area which was not accessible by road/rail or river in land locked country of DRC. Cargo comprised of material handling equipment such as excavators, dumpers, cranes etc. EXG transported approx 3500 FRT of cargo from Mumbai to Dar Es Salam and from arrival Dar Es Salam till Lubumbashi (Congo - DRC). The said project had several challenges with regards to execution of timely and proper shipping documents, custom clearance with least amount of demurrage at discharge port, organizing transport for the entire lot (approx 80 vehicles), including ODC’s and escorts for the same. Further obtaining necessary permits from various authorities within the stipulated time and to ensure that all cargo is safely loaded and moved to Lubumbashi yard. The movement of cargo was through, three international borders (Tanzania, Zambia and DRC) from arrival Dar Es Salam port till Lubumbashi. EXG along with their associates in Africa viz Polytra had to ensure that large pieces were re-oriented carefully under the authorisation and supervision of the client to enable safe passage of the material to final destination. EXG and their WWPC Belgium member-partner Polytra in coordination with the client managed to clear the entire lot in one go with minimum demurrage and safely delivered the cargo warehouse in Lubumbashi with no damage and also managed to maximise the loads without compromising the safety of the cargo, thereby reducing the estimated number of trailers initially. The savings were passed to the customer who was very much rejoiced by the solutions offered by EXG.
