XLProjects member, Trans-Trading recently oversaw the movement of the new fleet of locomotives for the Finnish State Railways (VR). On behalf of Trans-Trading Hamburg, the Lübeck Port Company (LHG) had recently refitted three Vectron locomotives, each one weighing 90 tons and measuring 19m x 3m x 4.4m. In total, eleven of those heavyweights will be shipped by rail and sea to Finland in 2018.
So far, three locomotives have traveled "on their own axles" from the Bavarian plant in Munich to the Seelandkai terminal, where they were prepared for the ocean transport to Hanko/Finland.
The Trans-Trading lifting gear was fixed on the mobile cranes and the reloading of the locomotives from rail onto heavy-duty roll trailer were handled with Trans-Trading transport beddings attached underneath the locomotives.
LHG and Trans-Trading were jointly executing the sophisticated security measures to meet all safety requirements. After the heavy package was tied properly, dockers pulled the roll trailers with the three locomotives aboard a Transfennica ship.
"Loading of these heavyweights is something very special," Uwe Wolter and Jens von Beuningen, Port Manager and Project Manager for general cargo / heavy cargo at Trans-Trading expressively pointed out. "The securing of the locomotives on the roll trailer is very demanding and ambitious, but due to many years of experience and know-how, all work can be carried out appropriately and according to the regulations."
