Swissterminal AG will officially take over the operation of three inland ports in the Alsace region - Ottmarsheim, Huningue and Ile Napoléon - beginning 1 July 2021. These French ports will be operated through Alsaceterminal SAS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swissterminal AG.
Swissterminal AG’s expansion into France, announced in early 2021, will provide customers with additional space for logistics growth as well as increased handling and storage capacity. A wide range of port services are available at the three ports in France, including bulk and breakbulk services, commercial rental space, project cargo solutions and rail services.
As part of its growth strategy, Swissterminal AG has also strengthened its management team. Roman Mayer remains CEO of the Swissterminal Group and is supported by Jürg Wiggli, Deputy CEO. In the newly created position of COO Terminals Switzerland, Jürg Wiggli is also responsible for terminal operations in Switzerland. Tatiana Mayer remains CCO, and Mark Mayer will continue to serve as CFO. Romain Stemmelen has been newly appointed to the Executive Board as CTO. In addition, Lionel Husser has taken over the management of the activities in France as COO Ports & Terminals France and Managing Director of Alsaceterminal SAS. In addition, Andreas Jeppesen, as COO Business & Warehousing Solutions, will oversee warehousing and corporate services at all locations.
“The start of operations in France is incredibly exciting for all of us in the company. We are very much looking forward to building a bigger and stronger organisation and accelerating logistics activities in France and the tri-border area,” said Roman Mayer, CEO of the Swissterminal Group. “We have a strong management team in place. Together, we will drive the introduction of more products, further improve performance and reliability in French ports and develop innovative measures to make all logistics processes more sustainable.”
