Silvasti steams ahead in Finland and skidds Swedish Transformer

Silvasti Heavy Ltd, member to the Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) network in Finland, moved an antique steam locomotive to a new position in Oulainen, Finland
The steam locomotive is called “Ukko-Pekka” and it was manufactured in 1955 by Lokomo. The length of the complete locomotive is 22,25 m, width 3,15 m and the 4,00 m. During the transportation the weight was 83 tons as the coal wagon, part of the complete locomotive, were moved separately. The weight of the coal wagon was 35 tons.
The municipality of Oulainen got “Ukko-Pekka” as a memorial from “Haapamäki Museum Locomotive association”. The locomotive was towed by railways to Oulainen and Silvasti moved it to its position in Oulainen.
For another significant project in Gavle, Sweden, Silvasti delivered and positioned a 210 tn transformer, which was transported by road over the distance of 80 kilometers.
This project included also jacking and skidding work, which were executed with Silvasti’s new and modern jacking & skidding equipment.
