“You must give time to your fellow men - - even if it’s a little thing, do something for others – something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.” –Albert Schweitzer On August 12, 2014, the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC), in cooperation with Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa Cebu and Royal Cargo, Inc., took time out to host a “Fun Day” for the children of Albert Schweitzer Familienwerk Foundation Philippines, Inc. (ASFFPI). ASFFPI is a non-government organization that provides social work interventions and other services to abandoned children, women, families, older and differently-abled persons needing special protection, care and rehabilitation. Following a supporting benefiz auction for the ASFFPI at the WWPC membership conference in Cebu in March this year, the network Directors Wolfgang Karau and Stuart Murdoch decided to support the ASFFPI by funding a Day of Fun for the children and staff of the charity. Kids as young as two years old as well as a number of individuals in their twenties took the opportunity to enjoy a whole day of fun and excitement specially put together for them. The fun started in the morning with lots of activities going on around the resort.  Games and exciting treats were prepared such as the obstacle course and kite flying.  The children were very enthusiastic with making kites which got their creative juices flowing.  The activities harnessed their skills and brought out their competitive side. Highlight of the event was the appearance of a mascot named “Paulie.” Volunteers from the resort were on hand to assist as well as cheer everyone on who joined in the fun. Free lunch and dinner were served to the young participants who happily feasted on the sumptuous food.
