The world´s leading provider of lager-bore Diesel Engines and Turbomachinery again entrusted the German ABA-member with this 3rd valuable shipment to Sohar, Oman from Antwerp. “If one includes the first two lots which have been loaded from Finland and Antwerp we have now shipped 2.478 FRT and there is more to come” explained Axel Kaufmann, Sales Manager of PrimoCargo in Hamburg. The biggest pieces have been the so-called Vorecons with dimensions of each 10,33 x 4,15 x 4,35 (L x W x H) meters and a unit weight of each 72.547 kgs. According to Axel Kaufmann in this particular case the best option was offered by a RoRo Carrier. “We needed to find the right solution to respect our customer’s arrival date. Since the Carrier was offering the ideal transit time, we only needed to persuade them to extend the loading date window with a few days. To find a suitable vessel in the first place with sufficient deck height was another challenge but after securing the necessary special equipment, so-called Low Bed Mafi Trailers, with a capacity of 100 tons, that could carry the skid motors and stay within the maximum height of 5,00 meters, we managed to load this expensive machinery on the RoRo vessel.” More lots are standing in line and are awaiting to be shipped.
