Press Bolster travels the USA by multimodal BNSFL transport
Aug 09, 2016
The BNSFL Houston Global Project Team handled a shipment of 1 press bolster with a weight of 220,000 Lbs and dimensions of 27 x 13’2 x 5’4 feet
The unit was transported from the factory in Windsor, Ontario on a 12 axle platform trailer to a nearby rail siding and then loaded onto a rail car
To clear the shipment on rail the experts of BNSFL had to turn the unit by making the width the height.
From Windsor the rail car traveled on the CN and BNSF Railways to Texas Terminal in Houston where the bolster was trans-loaded from rail to a Goldhofer trailer and trucked another 100 miles to the final jobsite.
BNSF Logistics (BNSFL) represents the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in the USA.
Whats this about?
It is the “uncontained” shipments that draw a lifetime allegiance of purveyors of the business. As one MPV (Multi Purpose Vessel) analyst bluntly said as an aside, “Boxes are boring.”
