Port of Beaumont welcomes M/V Liberty Passion for maiden voyage

Beaumont, TX - The Port of Beaumont announced the maiden voyage of the MN Liberty Passion. Friday March 3. 2017, the Port of Beaumont hosted a special event for Liberty Global Logistics to commemorate such a momentous occasion. Attendees included U.S. Congressmen Brian Babin and Randy Weber, the Secretary of Transportation, Elain Chao; Acting Director of U.S. Transportation Command, Joel Szabat; Deputy Commander U.S. Transportation Command, Lt. General Stephen Lyons; President and CEO of Liberty Maritime Corporation, Philip J. Shapiro and many local and national officials.
LGL announced on January 26th 2017 a third US flag vessel to their fleet, the Liberty Passion.
The vessel was delivered in Bahrain and scheduled to begin its first US eastbound voyage in Beaumont TX on/about March 1st 2017 and then proceeding to Jacksonville FL, Wilmington DE and Boston MA
LGL Is excited about this new addition to their fleet and is looking forward to providing customers with a more frequent ocean transportation options.
Similar to their other US Flag vessels, Liberty Pride and Liberty Promise, the Liberty Passion measures 199 meters long, 32 meters wide with a main deck height clearance of 5.1 meters, a 150 MT ramp capacity featuring four hoistable decks allowing for multiple configurations of various cargo mixes. Total deck capacity is 54,000 m2 or 580,000 ft2 .
The Liberty Passion is ready to handle automobiles, RO/RO, High/Heavy and project cargoes.
The Port of Beaumont has a longstanding relationship with the Liberty Line as a primary carrier for military cargos. Port Executive Director and CEO Chris Fisher said, "The Port of Beaumont and Liberty together have moved military cargo to our troops in every theater of war, humanitarian aid event, and peacekeeping mission around the globe. At the March 3rd event Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames officially named the ship. Afterwards, a lunch private reception will be held at the City of Beaumont Event Centre. .
