PGNiG says Qatargas to continue resell gas earmarked for Poland
WARSAW - Poland’s gas distributor PGNiG and Qatargas extended until the end of June next year the deal which allows the Qatari firm to sell to other countries the gas initially earmarked for sale to Poland, PGNiG said on Wednesday.
This comes after Poland said the launch of its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the Baltic Sea coast will be further delayed.
In 2009 PGNiG signed a long-term contract with Qatargas to deliver gas to the LNG terminal. But with the terminal being delayed PGNiG faced the risk of paying for gas it would not receive.
Last year, the companies agreed that Qatargas will sell the gas that it had been contracted to deliver to PGNiG, with the Polish company covering the difference between the agreed price and the price Qatargas would get for the gas on other markets.
