Noble Shipping Services, members in Pakistan, recently completed a shipment of parts for an Air Separation Unit in Port Qasim.

The total cargo featured 7 packages weighing a total of 368.2 MT with a volume of 3226.25 CBM. Heavy lift cargo for this project included three heavy lift tanks measuring at 76 MT and 31.8 m (L) each and two additional tanks weighing 58 MT each.

Noble Shipping's designated vessel - 4000 ton "Eemlift Nelli" - berthed at Port Qasim and used mounted cranes to facilitate the discharging of the 76 MT tanks. This proved to be a challenge with a single crane due to the length of the tanks.

A plan for discharging the other tanks was discussed with the ship’s staff, stevedores and transporter: a stability pontoon was rigged up, movements of crafts on the waterside were restricted, lashings were removed and finally all three tanks were discharged directly (under hook) on multi-axle trailers for delivery to the project site at Port Qasim.

Additionally, the sideward movement of the large and compactly stowed tanks on-deck were well protected by using safety lines.

Finally, the entire operation was completed safely & successfully during the daylight.
