L-Charge, headquartered in London, was named as a finalist for Platts Global Energy Awards, in the category of Energy Transition Technology of the Year.

L-Charge have developed a unique ultra-fast, mobile off-grid EV charger that uses clean fuels to provide a grid-independent, on-demand power supply for EV owners. The company’s mobile EV charging truck is fitted with a mini-power station that uses LNG, hydrogen or a mixture of the two fuels to produce electricity onboard, allowing it to roam freely around the city and be called to a convenient location when needed via the app, in the same manner as ordering a taxi. The mobile charging truck generates up to 130 kW and provides ultra-fast charging – from 0% to 80% in 15-25 minutes.

“We are currently focused on the readily available clean fuel solutions (like CNG and LNG), and intend to develop hydrogen-based fuel systems at scale, as soon as Green hydrogen becomes readily available on the market. We are striving to minimise the carbon footprint of the transport segment and are willing to remove the critical obstacles for the proliferation of electric vehicles”, said Justin Tarr, VP of Sales and Operations at L-Charge.

Platts Global Energy Awards is committed to recognising companies that have confronted difficult challenges and brought new innovation to market. The Energy Transition Technology of the Year category recognises innovative energy solutions that are advancing a multi-directional electric grid and bridging the gap between traditional energy systems and those of tomorrow.

"In a year of unexpected challenges, from Europe's energy crisis to trade-flow changes and banner market volatility, it's particularly inspiring to see the innovation and leadership of this year's finalists in steering a course towards a better energy future," said Sue Avinir, Senior Vice President of Conferences & Advisory Solutions, S&P Global Commodity Insights. "We're proud to honour this year's finalists and celebrate their efforts."

The winners will be announced at the S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards gala on December 8 in New York City.
