FRA/gk – Fraport AG has partnered with the "Indian Transport & Logistics News” magazine to host the first Automotive Supply Chain Management Summit (Auto SCM Summit), which is currently being held in Pune, India. On December 6 and 7, the conference is bringing together numerous supply chain managers of automotive manufacturers and logistics service providers, as well as customs officials to discuss ideas and share best practices to mutually benefit each other. The Indian automotive industry has grown into the sixth largest car manufacturer worldwide, with Pune being the automotive powerhouse in India exporting 3.6 million cars yearly.  “Efficient supply chain management is increasingly becoming a survival factor for the industry,” says Dirk Schusdziara, SVP Cargo at Fraport AG. “We are proud to support the first gathering of this kind. Cooperation between all the partners in the supply chain is crucial to remain competitive. Moreover, it helps us to identify the demands of the industry in order to support them wherever we can.” Germany is India’s biggest trading partner in Europe. Consequently, India is also a very important market for Frankfurt Airport. More than 70 passenger flights and some 20 freighter services are operated weekly between FRA and several destinations within India. In the year to October 2016, cargo volumes on routes to and from India increased by more than 20% year-on-year.
