Crown Data Systems has launched AI Alerts, a new feature in its flagship software Crown Freight Manager (CFM), to automate cartage agents’ manual processes for entering shipment data from forwarders and shippers. Cartage agents can use AI Alerts to automatically have their customers’ emailed shipment alerts and bills of lading seamlessly transmit into their CFM system, reducing much, if not all, of the manual data entry and saving hours per day.
“With AI Alerts processing daily alerts from forwarders, a team can review things in one hour versus taking up to eight hours to manually review and enter data,” said Robert Auzat, vice president of Operations for A PLUS EXPRESS, which is an early adopter of AI Alerts. “The ROI of AI Alerts can become positive very quickly.”

By relying on AI Alerts to read documents like a house air waybill, a cartage agent can eliminate incorrectly entering reference numbers and addresses for shipments. This makes planning driver routes, billing, and EDI transmissions smoother for cartage agents. And it expedites payment and customer satisfaction, too.
“AI Alerts helps automate the process of getting shipment data into CFM,” said Kevin Hady, vice president of Sales and Business Development for Crown. “Developing and launching AI Alerts will make our customers’ lives easier. There is a significant downstream impact of more efficient communications with their internal team as well as customers and clean, accurate, fast invoicing.”
For a cartage agent with a customer who doesn’t have EDI integration, dispatchers or logistics coordinators must spend time manually entering shipment data into Crown Freight Manager. To automate this work and reduce data-entry errors, AI Alerts automates tasks ranging from order entry to billing. Among its many features, AI Alerts:
· Eliminates manual order entry within CFM, so users can focus on more impactful, less tedious tasks that require human interaction.
· Uploads forwarder/shipper paperwork directly into the CFM shipment record for automated POD collection via the new CrownX | Driver application.
· Improves over time as the model processes more shipment data.
