Container vessel carries heavy project cargo from India to Belgium
Aug 25, 2015
Express Global Logistics (EXG), a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India, recently executed a project shipment for Belgium. The scope of EXG was to deliver a heavy break-bulk parcel from Mundra port to Antwerp port which involved shipping of one tank with a weight of 76.61 tons and measuring 10.36 X 5.96 X 6.16 meter.
With many regular heavy lift conventional liners suspending its services from the Indian continent to Europe due to drying conventional / project cargo volumes it was pretty challenging to get a sailing for Antwerp from Mundra at stipulated laycan date. It was also required for the cargo to urgently reach the buyer to fulfill a committed delivery deadline. This was a real challenge, unlikely to be availed in conventional sailings.
The transit time of most of the conventional vessel’s are much higher than regular liner containership transit time. This warranted a shipping service solution from Mundra, for a conventional break bulk unit, matched with a dedicated transit time of a container liner timing and same time meeting competitive freight budgets.
There were several challenges to load this parcel on the containerised vessel. With strict Safety policy in place, EXG is committed to follow highest level of safety standards in the industry. EXG came up with innovative solution to load a 76.6 ton package without compromising on HSE requirements.
