With less than one week of prior notice for planning, Compass Forwarding successfully delivered a Magni 24.11 telescopic handler and accessories from the factory in Modena, Italy to Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic.
Compass’ white-glove service started with specialized handling from origin. Trailers with permits and escorts were scheduled on short notice during the Italian summer holiday to transport the crane and accessories 200 miles from the factory to the Port of Savona. On-site management supervised the loading of the machinery unto the vessel for sailing to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada.
The Compass team arranged for MAFI equipment and manpower to be positioned at the Halifax Auto Port to quickly facilitate the offload and transfer of the machinery to the Port of Montreal. From there, the machinery traveled by special vessel service from Montreal to Baffin Island.
“This was specialized cargo that had to reach Montreal to be loaded on one of the last vessels calling the Arctic region this season. Failure could have delayed the job until summer 2020,” commented Compass’ Director – Richard J. Shelala. “As logisticians, we love moves where we are presented a nearly impossible challenge. We thrive on finding solutions to get the job done.”
Compass Forwarding arranges weekly worldwide shipments by air and ocean of oversized heavy machinery – including telescopic handlers, metal fabrication machinery, aerospace components, and oil/gas equipment.
