Bolloré Logistics successfully transported 30,000 tons of equipment from January to December 2021 for a solar farm project in the Atacama region of Chile. The project involved delivering 10 containers per day, from Monday to Saturday, for a year from the port of Angamos to the site of Diego Almagro, approximately 500 km away.
In order to ensure this logistics operation, Bolloré Logistics Chile contracted an exclusive agreement with a road transport company in the Atacama region. The main challenges were obtaining the required certifications to enter the work site as well as managing the rotation of trucks to coordinate simultaneously the loading and delivering operations.
“We are very happy to have successfully completed the Solar Diego de Almagro project since being awarded this operation by Colbún in 2020,” commented Jorge Ramirez, Director of Industrial Projects in Chile. “We have demonstrated all our expertise to be able to successfully carry out this time-sensitive project. Participating in the construction of this power plant that will generate renewable and clean energy as part of the sustainable development of Chile has made us very proud.”
The Solar Diego de Almagro project is managed by Colbún, the largest power generation company in Chile, with 25 power plants in Chile and Peru, through which it has a total installed capacity of 3,893 MW distributed in different types of generation technologies. Diego de Almagro Solar Park is part of Colbún’s investment plan in renewable energies. Its installed capacity is 230 MW and its operation will prevent the emission of almost 325 million tons of CO2 per year.
