AtkinsRéalis, a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world, has been awarded an Interstate 75 (I-75) Interchange Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) Services contract by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

"It’s extremely gratifying when AtkinsRéalis’ expertise is recognized by our longstanding clients,” said Steve Morriss, President, U.S., Latin America, and Minerals & Metals, AtkinsRéalis. "Earning their repeat business is an endorsement of our capabilities and strengthens our status as a premier professional services provider in our industry.”

Under the five-year $14 million US contract, AtkinsRéalis will serve as FDOT’s representative, providing project and construction management services including overall project administration, design phase review, day-to-day management of construction inspection, material testing and project documentation. Additionally, AtkinsRéalis will coordinate with government agencies and project stakeholders.

The project reconstructs the I-75 interchange at Fruitville Road Interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) to improve traffic flow, reduce wait time for traffic signals, and enhance safety by eliminating left turn movements, which reduces potential conflicts at the interchange in Sarasota County. Work also includes realigning I-75 into its ultimate footprint and widening 1.6 miles of Fruitville Road. I-75 is an integral part of FDOTs Strategic Intermodal System and serves as a hurricane evacuation route.

“Our experience delivering professional quality services and managing complex projects combined with the skills to identify potential issues early and provide practical and timely solutions to keep projects on schedule is why we are the partner of choice for DOTs across the US,” said Brad Dennard, Senior Vice President, DOT Business Unit Director US, Roads Global Market Lead, AtkinsRéalis. “We are honored to help keep Florida moving forward.”
