LONG BEACH, CA – Jessica Alvarenga, a former Senior Field Deputy for Los Angeles City Councilmember José Huizar, has joined the staff of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA) as Manager of Government Affairs, it was announced Friday.  Ms. Alvarenga will join Michele Sorensen Grubbs and Thomas Jelenić who are based out of the PMSA office in Long Beach. “Jessica will play an important role representing the association and providing information to government officials, media and other interest groups regarding issues affecting the Southern California logistics industry which supports more than 1.5 million jobs nationally,” said John McLaurin, PMSA president. “We’re really pleased to have Ms. Alvarenga onboard.” In addition to working for Councilmember Huizar, Ms. Alverenga is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles where she majored in Political Science with a minor in Urban and Regional Studies.
